This new technology is called CEREC AC™, a computer-aided design and milling device. CEREC AC allows us to create a permanent crown in just a few minutes. Now, there’s no more waiting for the lab and no return trips to the dentist. Patients love it!
We are the only office in the area to employ the CEREC AC technology in our practice and are an area leader in the utilization of CEREC technology, with over 8 years experience with CEREC, and over 3,000 restorations placed. The CEREC AC system allows us to repair a damaged tooth in about an hour. We no longer need to take impressions or create temporaries, and CEREC AC enables us to satisfy patients seeking a long-lasting, esthetic alternative to silver or plastic fillings.
To make the restoration, we first paint a reflective powder over the prepared tooth. Using a special camera, we take an accurate picture of the tooth, and the picture is then displayed on a computer screen, enabling us to design the restoration. Then CEREC AC takes over and automatically creates the restoration. Finally, we bond the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth.
